Billings to Red Lodge – July 11

We were able to do 57 miles on our weakened bodies. It really helped that it was only 1% uphill grade and we had a tailwind for the first part. We ate some snacks in the tiny town of Joliet and a cat nap at a rest stop. Lots of Harley’s etc passed us and now we see why. The Fargo chapter of the HOG (Harley owners group) is having a rally.

Rain welcomed us and we met Lee at the brewery and he gave us some tips on motels. The first one we tried was taken by mostly Victory riders. The owner helped us find a place on the outside of town – Red Lodge Inn.

Today we have the Beartooth pass where we will attempt to go from 5,500 ft to 10,900 ft. We’ll see how far we get.
