What do those have to do with each other? Well, 2010 is the last time Spain won the world cup and the last time I ate an Æbleskiver. It’s basically a spherical pancake. They were delicious.
We had an easy riding day from Bear Lake to Montpelier. Bob tried to buy liquor in Fish Haven ID but no dice. The sign said it’s a county thing not an Idaho thing.
We rode around Bear Lake and at the pump building the water was even more dramatic turquoise color. It comes from limestone—aha.
We rode thru the tiny farming town of Dingle and onto the town of Montpelier. I learned that it was called Clover Creek originally but Brigham Young changed the name because he didn’t like generic town names so he changed the name to match his birthplace of Montpelier Vermont (which we rode through 2 summers ago).
Out of the ~20 restaurants in town, only 2 were open! Subway and Arctic Circle. They take Sunday serious here.
Next we go back into the wilderness on dirt roads. We’ll be carrying lots of water and a filter just in case.
We rode 36 miles — hardly any climbing.
