Day 11: Father’s Day

It was a very mellow day. We slept in until 10:30 which is a record for me. We enjoyed leisurely coffee around a fire and took a walk along the Shoreline Loop of Washington Park, where we got in a much needed stretch. We plan to stay here several days, while we take day trips out to the San Juan Islands.

In the afternoon, we met Owen from Portland who was starting his cross country bicycle tour along the Northern Tier, which begins out of Anacortes. He was taking a day to dodge the raindrops before setting off on Monday. He expected it would take him 3 months. An experienced bike mechanic, he did some magic on our willful front derailleur, which had been refusing to shift to our lowest front gear.

We made a second fire and enjoyed a delicious meal of tostadas with huevos rancheros courtesy of Jackie. I received a message from Tom, wishing me a happy Father’s Day.

We then took a walk to watch a cloudy sunset over the Olympic Peninsula. It doesn’t get any better than doing what you love to do with someone you love to do it with.
Signing off,

Steve

  1. Steve – So glad you enjoyed Father’s Day and had a relaxing day. Being with Jackie and hearing from Tom made it special no doubt. Love to both of you. Love, Mom/Grandma Botts
