879 to be exact. This was big and active compared to Atomic City.
We left our camp in Atomic City before sunrise to beat the heat and rode 13 miles to the nice highway rest stop where we made our coffee and oatmeal.
We couldn’t resist “a second breakfast” at Pickle Place in the town of Arco.
We decided to rent a “Kozy Kabin” in Arco because it has A/C and a swimming pool (we cleaned it a bit first). We met the previous guest, Susan, a super friendly and generous traveler from Greenville, NC. She gave us water, yogurt, and oranges and we had a nice chat.
Apparently the neighboring property is quite the MAGA fan even playing the star spangled banner on the loudspeaker at 9pm and revelry at dawn. I slept thru the 9pm and we were out before the dawn.
Next we ride into the wilderness to Cherry Creek campground.
Atomic City to Arco was 30 miles and flat like a desert.
