Day 4: Wilderness Riding

We packed our damp tents which always makes me cringe a bit but I quickly forget about it once I’m riding.

The scenery was some of my favorite with plenty of forest and meadows and overlooks. We rode up and down lots of hills and tested our “line picking” to dodge rocks and ruts that would cause us to lose our momentum. We occasionally saw ATVs but we could easily hear them way before so we could scoot to the side and let them pass. We saw a few with dog carriers but we could only guess they were hunters although we didn’t hear any shots.

The forest eventually gave way to fields of sage and brush as we approached our destination at Bear Lake.

We replenished our calories at Some Beaches burger & shake place in the town of ~500 people.

Since the campgrounds were full for Saturday night, we found an RV park and had a nice chat with our neighbors from Estonia on their tour of the west.

Next we ride into Idaho and the town of Montpelier.

We rode 43 miles in dirt from Monte Cristo Campground to Bear Lake. It was a 3400ft of climbing.
