The campground store opened early so we bought them out of chocolate milk. It was a delicious second breakfast (after the first of oatmeal).
We learned they donāt call them āpassesā over the mountains they call them ānotchesā (more research needed). Beaver Pond at Kinsmen Notch was at the top of the notch. Itās also where the famous Appalachian trail crossed our route.
We coasted into a general store in tine Swiftwater run by Phil who made us our 3rd small breakfast which was yet another breakfast sandwich. They had a roster of who hunted the biggest turkey this season. The top bird was 24 pounds. There was at least 60 names on that list.
Greg and Joan explained the pros and cons of Vermont and New Hampshire as well as the friendly rivalry. Thanks for that.
Rickers Pond campground was our choice for the night. I couldnāt resist going for a quick, cold swim in the pristine pond. We watched some ācaveman TVā (fire) in the nice shared campground pavilion.
Mike, thank you for the daily posts! I am having fun traveling vicariously with you all. Vermont looks lovely.
