As mentioned we stayed at a local families house in their spacious basement. Hood River was friendly and reminded me of San Luis Obispo. We headed down highway 35 and stopped at another nice fruit stand combo B&B. We were happy to get off the highway and finish the nice 2000 ft climb up to the Timberline. The total for the day was 7300 ft of climbing in 51 miles which i think is a record for us (fully loaded for sure). The lodge was very cool because they filmed part of The Shining there and it was hand built with big timbers and stone. We enjoyed a hearty dinner in the bar. When I get home I will upload a few videos. One showing an ant colony building a cave inside a big log.
Oh thank goodness someone is taking a shower! RED-RUM!
