Day 9: Bikers and such

It seems like the Burton campground is bigger than the town. We rode 20 miles to the town of Nakusp and ate breakfast at Hoss & Jills. We talked to a mother and her 10 year old daughter that was visiting her old country after moving to Chattanooga.

A gang of Hells Angels Ontario rode up and parked right in front. They seemed peaceful but I’m not sure what their reputation is these days.

We went for a nice swim on the beach – I like Nakusp.

Brent and I continued riding and stopped at a rest stop with a 60ft waterfall. We talked to a group of friendly motorcycle bikers on a club ride. Their “Thursday Night Riders” club of 125 members was on a 14 day trip. He said they give to local charities in Winnepeg. They gave us some maple flavored cookies out of their ice chest. One of them asked “are you guys on a father and son ride?” After we stopped laughing, I asked him…”which one of us do you think is the father?” He quickly backpedaled!!

Our campground for the night is Halcyon Terrace. Bob and I tried to buy a beer from our neighbors but they insisted on giving us some “Red Truck Beer”. Their dog named Nova (named after Kevin’s 1964 Chevy Nova) was super friendly.

Brent went to the local hot springs spa and restaurant for his side adventure.

Today we are taking the Galena Ferry across Arrow lake and riding into the town of Revelstoke.

These last few entries we used Brent’s starlink mini satellite antenna. Cool technology.
