Day 7: Grizzly Country

We stocked up at the Slocan Village Market and started riding the trail and a logging/mining road. The dirt road was hard packed but lots of puddles, rocks and washboards to keep us weaving to find the easiest line.

We stopped and talked to Ryan, an Aussie, and his dog Scout. He was cutting up a fallen tree for firewood and splitting it with his axe. His dog was a Mastiff/Lab mix and huge as you can imagine.

I have to say this campground is one of the nicest for natural beauty I’ve stayed at.

We finally arrived at Grizzly Creek Campground where we marveled at the beauty of the moss covered forest. We saved a lot of time by hanging our food bags from the nearby bridge instead of messing with a tree and all the hassle that entails.

Today we ride up the steepest and highest section into the tiny town of Burton. No bear sightings thankfully!

Leaving town
Ryan and Scout
Lots of mushrooms in camp
Hills all around us
Camp all to ourselves
Tree growing in rock
Only nature can do this root masterpiece
See my food bag hanging from bridge
Grizzly creek was bustling
Signage
Somebody put up a memorial for their grandpa
