Day 6: Trail Time

We noticed that it’s hard to find a breakfast place open in British Columbia at 7am when we need it. This morning we rode 15 miles to Frog Peak Cafe. It was one of those whimsical decorated places with lots of stuff to look and laugh at (see photos).

We talked with a few other cyclists doing a weekend ride from Revelstoke. She had some good bear stories for us.

The great Slocan rail trail was indeed great. Alot of it was right next to the river with great views and we went for a nice refreshing swim at a tiny beach.

The tiny village of Slocan, population 250, was pretty sleepy. After settling in at Springer Creek campground we walked downtown to Harold’s cafe which was owned by Antonia, a talkative empty nester that told us all about her 3 boys. She confirmed the history of the town that had a Japanese internment camp back in WWII.

Today we have a short ride to Grizzly Creek Campground where we get to test our PCT bear bag in a tree setup.

Lots of photos today.
