Day 19: The word of the day is “fwah!”

That’s a word that Carlos uses to describe several emotions but mainly “whoa, thats crazy” but sometimes just frustration and disgust. It makes us laugh!

The first part of the trail we played hide and seek with the trail when it disappeared into the forest. We have the advantage of 3 scouts/team members where Carlos is riding by himself. Despite his more difficult route he managed to meet us at the highway rest stop. It was an oasis because a food truck selling “smokies” (sausage on a bun) was a treat. Carlos was cursing and fit to be tied when he arrived.

The second part of the ride was beautiful. See photos. When we got to Hope, we tried to ride through the Othello tunnel but it was closed because of a teenage climber was lost and search and rescue operation.

The town of Hope amazed me since the mountain immediately rises a mile high within 1/4 mile.

Carlos joined us at the Mountain View brewery and some ice cream (and pie for Brent). A gret day with about 40 miles riding.
