Day 18: Rail Trail Fail

We waited for the rain to pass before we left Otter Creek Campground because we all hate starting in the rain. The dirt forest service roads and Kettle Valley Rail Trail were good for a while but then we saw where a flooded creek washed away the trail. After some scouting and trial and error, we followed the ribbon clues and tire track clues to continue the trail.

After several more miles, the trail fell apart again and we had to ride an extra 5 miles to go around it on the road.

After riding about 10 miles on highway 5, we reached our planned destination – Coldwater Creek Provincial Park. A total of 40 miles. It seems the government abandoned this park because the signs were torn down and nobody was here.

Carlos joined us again for dinner and camping. We really missed having a picnic table! Luckily, we had a nice creek and filtered plenty of water for dinner and the next days ride.

Today we are riding to the town of Hope.

Welcome to the ready riders Carlos!
