Day 16: Easy riding day to the town of Princeton

We said goodbye to the Ospreys and rode mostly downhill 27.5 miles to Princeton, population 2,900. Our first clue that this is a mining town is the lunch restaurant is called “Copper Pit”. Our second clue is our campground neighbor, Brad told us he just got hired at the mine and was at the campground until he can buy a house. He said he’s glad to leave his old job in the coal mine. I asked if it was because he was worried about his lungs but he said it was about all the dirt everywhere and nothing stayed clean. He said his job is to layout the routing of all the power cables for the mining equipment.

After lounging in the hammock and cooling off in the river, we rode back into town for dinner at the Brown Bridge Pub. I haven’t had chicken wings in ages. I convinced the other guys to join me at Dairy Queen for some soft serve and chocolate shakes. Bob got a good “food coma“ from all the calories.

After talking to some other campground neighbors about their chihuahua and e-bikes, we settled into as much sleep as we could get in this municipal campground next to the highway.

Today we will try to ride to Otter Creek campground and get a spot.
