Steve sums up the day by saying “I don’t even know how I got here”. Well Steve…We rode 100 miles from Paradise to Swift Reservoir with 5055 ft of climbing. We began by bundling up for a ride down from Paradise (it was 45 degrees). The road was freshly paved and smoother than butter. I’m betting they film car commercials on this road. We ate lunch at Packwood and stopped at a fruit stand and I binged on fresh apricots. We stuffed our panniers with food and headed on a great road, forest road 25 for 50 miles. We got some great views of Mt St Helen’s volcano. After fixing my 3rd flat we finally found the 2mm long wire stuck in the tire that was causing it, thanks to Bob. We settled into camp at 9pm for BBQ sausage and pork chili. We passed out from exhaustion before we could burn the last log on the campfire.
I’m amazed at the flats. I assume that it was one wire over multiple tubes. Knock on wood, but I haven’t had a flat on my tours yet. Hoping for good times. (Once again, you guys need to take time to smell the flowers!. Lotso miles.)
Oh, and by the way, where ARE you? Missing information…..
You guys are amazing! Fully loaded, 100 miles, lots of climbing?!
Full Sail is our favorite brewery, glad you stopped in.
